The plot takes time in America, in the 30s and "the great depression". It's a film about hope and dreams. The movie really makes you think and feel.
The main characters is: The circus director and the limbless man Will. Will is "working" at a circus where they make fun of peoples who are different, along with "the fat lady" and "the painted man". The viewers make fun of them, and bullies them. One day the Butterfly circus is visiting this circus, and they meet Will, who spits in their face, and they leave. When he later on figures out that they were from butterfly, he escapes for the circus his with, and follows their truck, in the back with the suitcases, when they leave. The circus director wont let him join the butterfly circus. The reason he can't join is because the director know that he doesn't believe in himself.

it's important not to give up, even though it seems hopeless. |
The movie shows how important it is to believe in ourselves and others, and that "mind over matter" is important.
I found the movie extremely good, it is symbolic, with the caterpillar who turns in to a beautiful butterfly, and how Will goes from being hopeless to hopeful, and it really gives inspiration and hope. The movie catches the attention from beginning to end, with its nostalgic tone and theme.
